George Michael - born Georgios (Yorgos) Kyriacos Panayiotou on 25 June 1963, Finchley, London, England. He was half of the pop duo Wham in the early 80s who had massive hits such as Bad Boys, Last Christmas and Edge of Heaven. George went solo in 1986 to much critical acclaim, producing the brilliant albums Faith and Listen Without Prejudice. A legal battle with Sony then ensued for 5 years. On a new label George came back with the album Older which spawned the hit singles Jesus to a Child and Fastlove. George has continued to make superb music and although his image has taken a battering in the USA, he is still one of the darlings of the UK music scene. |
