Japan and David Sylvian

Japan and David Sylvian

Japan - from South London, Japan were at the forefront of the new romantic movement in the early 80s. They had a string of hits including Ghosts, Quiet Life and a cover of the motown hit I Second that Emotion. Initial band members were David Sylvian, Mick Karn, Steve Jansen and Richard Barberi. After splitting in 1982 the members went solo to differing success. They reformed briefly under the name of Rain Tree Crow. Although their music was memorable, they will probably be remembered more for their fashion and style.
