 Queen and Freddie Mercury |
Queen - Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5th 1946 on the small spice island of Zanzibar. Roger Taylor and Brian May were a members of a band called Smile and invited Freddie to become their singer. They changed their name to Queen and shortly after John Deacon joined as the bassist. In 1973 Trident and EMI signed a contract for a recording deal for Queen, and July of that year saw the release of QUEEN, their first album. The rest is well documented - Bohemian Rhapsody stayed at number one for 9 weeks in 1975, other huge hits followed (too many to mention) and Queen were recognised as the best band at the Live Aid concert in 1985. Freddie died in November 1991 and is still mourned to this day. |
