Gaveston Hall has it's own Nature Trail through the woods, meadows, lakes and streams.

It is an ideal environment to study the creatures of the wild, with deer, foxes, herons, wild birds, rabbits, squirrels, hedgehogs, bats, snakes, toads and frogs all making their homes here.


There is also a large badger sett and the opportunity to study these rare, timid creatures.

Gaveston is ideal for courses in ecology, geography, orienteering and river studies, with its meandering stream and oxbow lake.

Pond Dipping will reveal the creatures of the water and the popular Shelter Building in the woods will encourage the children to work as a team. Go tracking, or take a night walk. A Work Pack and Nature Trail are supplied to each school.

Monday Arrive at Gaveston and settle in. Practice the fire drill. Shelter building in the woods. After supper, time for diaries and postcards home before an evening of games on the field or a Night Walk
Tuesday Pond Dipping Mini Beast hunting Diaries and Campfire
Wednesday Have a day out in Sussex or walk to the village via the ancient footpaths. River Studies and Stream Walking Diaries and Scavenger Hunt, or a badger Watch
Thursday Orienteering, sketching or painting Sports Afternoon Disco or Talent Contest
Friday Tidy and Pack. Time for Gaveston Quiz and presentations
