Pre-qualifying is necessarily, at this point, and not even just for the women’s game, but the men’s too. There’s plenty of lopsided score lines in the men’s EURO qualifiers as well.
It doesn’t do anyone any good to play in blowouts like this. The winning team gets a ton of stats, but it doesn’t challenge them in any way that makes them any better. The losing team doesn’t learn anything from it either and it’s not a situation that’s going to improve their game. I also generally avoid watching some of these games because it’s just not worth it, which doesn’t do any good for anyone trying to get more eyes on women’s soccer.
There are inherent inequalities within the game with wealthier countries having more money to commit to their teams and there development and poor countries not having the resources. That’s true for both men’s and women’s sides.
