Steve BruceSteve Bruce says he can handle the hot heat as Newcastle United Manager.
The Magpies need a winwin to ensure they stay on course for survival this season and although Bruce wants the team to aim higher he recognises the need for a win this weekend at Leicester City.
When asked about the criticism following the 0-0 draw with Brighton, Bruce said:
“There’s always pressure here.
“Every week it’s the same thing, you have to understand that, you have to accept that and you have to improve that.
“Once it happens and you don’t play well enough – you have to move on to the next one.
“We were certainly better in the last 20 minutes so let’s hope we can perform better on Sunday.”
The Toon boss also expressed:
“It’s about the accumulation of points over the season. “This time last year after seven games we had two points.
“It’ll be wherever you finish. “We knew we had three of the top six in our first few games.
“We just need to keep trying to put as many points on the board as we can.
“It’s the same for any team.”
The ex Manchester United legend has certainly taken a managerial risk pursuing management at this club and with the insecurity of a new owner looming he really needs to prove why he was once one of the most sought after bosses in the league.
