They have the new stadium, and have broken into the European elite. Now Tottenham Hotspur could add to their title ambitions by welcoming back a Galactico to their squad.
Gareth Bale left Spurs six years ago ambitious and ready to challenge himself at the highest level. Now four European Cups under his belt the Welsh winger may be tempted back to London if a deal can be had between the player and the clubs.
According to TalkSPORT reports in Spain suggest the north London club are keen on re-signing the Welshman to end his nightmare at the Bernabeu. Things haven’t looked great since the return of Zidane and the World Cup winning Frenchmen doesn’t see Bale in his future plans.
Bale wont Budge
The Spanish giants are reportedly desperate to offload their £600,000-a-week star but the player is stubbornly standing firm and unless a solution can be met Bale may sit tight. The 30-year-old’s wages are believed to be a major reason why there has been a small amount of interest and Marca reports that Spurs can only afford half of Bale’s current salary.
Bales representative, Jonathan Barnett has said to Sky Sports News last month:
“I don’t think he wants to go out on loan. He’s got a lovely life and home in Spain. I think it would take something exceptional for him to leave and loans are not on the menu.”
“If I think a player doesn’t fit in the team I have to do what I think works best. No-one can change what Bale has done for the team, but as a coach I have to live in the present,” Zidane said after Bale was left on the bench for the final La Liga game of the 2018/19 campaign.
“I make these decisions when it is right to do so, and I must act in the best interests of the team at all times.”
With the arrival of Eden Hazard,
it is increasingly unlikely that Gareth will see playing time from the start and he must surely for his own sake seek to move away. He has so much to offer still to football and unless his desire to play has diminished then he should take a pay cut and seek a move away.
