The attendance record in Damallsvenskan at 9 413 will be broken when Hammarby plays AIK on October 10th. 10 348 tickets have already been sold.
– Once again, Hammarby Fotboll and our wonderful supporters will write themselves into the history books of Swedish football, says CEO Richard von Yxkull on his own website.
In 2008, Linköpings FC met Umeå IK in a league match in the last Damallsvenskan round, when the gold was at stake. 9 413 people went to Folkungavallen in Linköping. That record has stood since then, but on October 10, Hammarby will take over first place.
Hammarby’s ladies normally play at Hammarby IP on Södermalm, but are now taking the step over Skanstullsbron into the large Tele2 Arena at Gullmarsplan to accommodate the audience.
– To be honest, I’m not particularly surprised. We have an office that works dedicatedly with [marketing] and we have absolutely fantastic supporters who do a lot [for the team]. We have seen the development at Hammarby IP and the support we have is completely unique throughout Europe in women’s football, says sports director Johan Lager.
