With a career spanning 20 years at clubs including West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Bournemouth and now Glasgow Rangers Jermaine Defoe is still scoring goals.

Under the management of former England teammate and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, Defoe has hit 20 goals in 34 games and still proves that he has much to give in football.

When asked if he could retire at Rangers, Defoe responded:

“Do you know what, I would love to, because it is a massive football club.

“And to be honest, when I left Tottenham, I didn’t really feel like I was going to get an opportunity to play European football again.

“The European nights at Ibrox are something special, it is special.

“To be at this club at the back end of your career, to finish somewhere like that, it’s amazing. There’s no better place.

The whole environment, everyone at the club from the women in the canteen that have been there for 30 years to the kitman Jimmy (Bell) who tells me all the stories of all the legends who played for the club, all the players and the squad we’ve got, the manager and stuff and the special fans. I’m loving it, it’s been amazing.

“100 per cent (love the club). I’m not just saying it because you need to, I think you can tell to be honest by how it is gone. It’s just an amazing football club.”
