Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has reportedly turned down an approach by Derby County to replace Frank Lampard (The Times)
Gerrard has a steady first season in top flight management. He has attracted the attention of English teams and it is Derby that have come knocking first.
Derby are making plans to replace Lampard, who is interested in the role at Chelsea and they see Gerrard as the perfect replacement.
Gerrard is clearly committed to Rangers after signing a four year contract with them last year.
The ex Liverpool legend has made signings this summer and may feel he has unfinished business in Scotland before furthering his skills in England.
Some believe that Gerrard is the natural successor to Jurgen Klopp so he may choose to spend more time honing his skills up North before coming back home.
Its a risky business management these days and one failure at a club could mean damaging your reputation and advancement. Both ex leaf ends would be wise to choose their next step carefully.
