The on/off Harry Maguire transfer saga continues with The Foxes reported to be demanding £90million for the England defender.
Man United are still in the market for an experienced central defender and with time running, out Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows that he needs to bolster is back line.
Leicester however, are in a strong position and know longer need to be bullied by a buying club. They do not need to sell the player and if they manage to keep hold of Maguire they will see a top 4 position as an achievable ambition.
Man United legend Dennis Irwin is currently on the clubs pre season tour of Australia and told reporters;
“We’ve brought in a couple of young lads, who have got plenty of pace – I think something that we lacked in the last two-three years – and I think we need another couple of signings.
“It would be great to get another few signings in and go from there because it’s a fresh start, a clean slate.”
Whether or not Harry Maguire is that man remains to be seen but United do need to clear out players such as Phil Jones and Chris Smalling who are no longer the standard required at the club.
Irwin has gone on to suggest that Solskjaer needs to continue to make his mark and if the two clubs can iron out an agreement then the club are moving in the right direction.
