The Man United midfielder will not feature due to illness and was not named in the squad for Saturday’s visit of Bulgaria with the Three Lions confirming that he has returned to Manchester.
Lingard has had a difficult start to the season with his club side. He had failed to impress in the opening games of the season and was dropped to the substitutes’ bench for the draw with Southampton last weekend.
Although no timescale has been put on his return, he will hope to be fit for United’s Premier League clash against Leicester City next Saturday.
The United midfielder has hardly set the club alight and is part of a culture of footballers who are more prominent on social media than there performances on the football pitch.
The player considers himself an influencer but I believe if he doesn’t get his act together and prove his worth then he might just find his cards marked as the club look to make progress.
