O’Neill follows Keane out of Forest
Nottingham Forest officially announced their decision to dismiss Martin O’Neill of his duties at the City Ground. The former Leicester, Aston Villa and Celtic boss has quickly been replaced by Frenchman Sabri Lamouchi.
According to sources inside the camp Nottingham Forest took action over growing resentment in the squad, which hit crisis point over the past 48 hours.
It is thought many players expressed doubts over O’Neill’s methods and training regime and club owners took the action to dismiss O’Neill rather than risk the players revolting against the manager.
Insiders claim O’Neill’s “old-school” approach left players confused and underwhelmed. Its been speculated that training was flat with no clear pattern, and little focus on the opposition.
Roy Keane, O’Neill’s assistant, also left the club on Sunday which was seen as a significant blow to the manager’s authority but reading between the lines it would look like KeaneKeane left his position before he was pushed.
