Paul Ince Hammers De Gea in Post Match Interview

Paul Ince has hammered David De Gea for his post-match interview after Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.

The Red Devils suffered another away defeat at the hands of the Magpies on Sunday to extend their worst start to a season for 30 years, as they slumped to 12th in the Premier League.

It is not acceptable, not just this game but the whole season,” De Gea said.

“It is the most difficult time since I have been here. I don’t know what is happening. We cannot even score one goal in two games.”

The interview was an emotional one for De Gea. He has been at Old Trafford since 2011 and he seemed to struggle to find the right words regarding the current situation at the club.

Paul Ince, United legend was not impressed with what the United goalie had to say and branded him clueless and not befitting of a leader.

“I watched David De Gea’s post-match interview and I was at a loss,” Ince told Paddy Power.

“He’s meant to be one of the leaders, if that was Peter Schmeichel standing there, there’s no chance you’d have seen that interview.

“Rather than him addressing and recognising where the team were going wrong, it just felt like ‘I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know.’

“This is one of the top players, the leaders at Manchester United, who has just signed a five-year contract!

“And he looks like he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on. If you’re a United fan listening to your goalkeeper, one of the main leaders in the team, and that’s the interview you here you’d be right to be disgraced.

“I’d be looking thinking, Jesus, he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on – I bet he’s regretting signing that contract.”
