A recently launched sports sponsorship marketplace SPONSOR.ONLINE has announced that retired French international, Christian Karembeu has joined as an advisor and investor.
Since launching, the platform has flipped the method where middlemen secure sponsorship deals by handing over the power back to the clubs.
Within six months of its launch, the Swiss-based digital platform has been used by over 150 professional football clubs. To add to the numbers, 50 global brands are also making use of the platform.
They hope by adding a world cup winner to the roster, it will provide the platform with further recognition to revolutionise the industry and draw in more investors from within the football and sports industry.
According to Christian, “In today’s highly complex environment, which is driven mainly by Technology, a simple-to-use system is very key in ensuring success. Other characteristics that the platform boasts of are its fairness and transparency. ”

The marketplace has been rapidly growing with clubs and sponsors signing up to use the system each week.
The annual sponsorship industry pulls in 55 billion euros a year and SPONSOR.ONLINE aims to take a slice of this lucrative market.
The platform works by enabling football teams to add their sponsorship inventory to the marketplace.
This allows brands to see exactly which opportunities are available and then negotiate a deal with the clubs. The process cuts out the middleman and simplifies the whole sponsorship industry.
