Sarri’s move to take the reins at Juventus is far from decided.
Sarri is thought to be disgruntled at Chelsea due to stick from the fans for his team selections and him marginalising the talents of the superb Kante and the magician Hazard. This despite Sarri securing the all important Champions League place and also delivering silverware with an emphatic victory over a tame Arsenal team in the Europa Cup final in the far flung Baku.
Perhaps Sarri is certain that Hazard will leave for Real Madrid as expected and wants to jump ship before his job gets a whole lot tougher. Although according to the Evening Standard the Hazard move has broken down.
Hazard and Kante
According to Sky Sports Sarri won’t be following Allegri as manager until a compensation package is agreed between the Turin club and the powers that be at Chelsea:
Maurizio Sarri’s move to Juventus has stalled with Chelsea demanding the Serie A champions pay the Italian’s £5.3m release clause, Sky in Italy understands.
Do Chelsea fans appreciate what they have got? It may take the loss of a talented manager to make them realise ‘the grass isn’t always greener’. The other issue is if Sarri leaves who is the replacement? Is a return for record Chelsea goalscorer Frank Lampard as manager on the cards? Defeat in the play off final with Derby last month was a bitter pill to swallow. Will he want a second bite of the notoriously difficult Championship cherry or will the lure of Chelsea prove too strong for the proud Londoner? Only time will tell how this one plays out.
