Everton manager Marco Silva has implied that stalwarts Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka will be staying on at the Goodison Park club next near.
Although nearing the end of their playing days they still have so much to offer and it is believed that Silva has left the option to stay on at the club in their hands according to the Daily Mirror but in what capacity remains to be seen.S
Silva says nothing has been sorted for them for the following season but the loyal pair deserve much respect for their commitment at the club and it is thought they will not leave. He has stated;
“It is not decided yet. When we have a decision, they will be the first ones to know. I have already spoke with Leighton, Jags I will do in the next few days or weeks. Leighton knows what is my idea already”.
It would seem from Silva’s comments that a coaching role in some capacity might be on the cards for two players who have been associated with the club for some years now.
Silva went on to say;
“They have all the respect of ourselves. They are fully focused on what we want in our desire and our goal as a team. They are there, they are working really hard for us to achieve what we want because it is the most important thing”.
After what seemed like a slow start for the former Watford manager Silva to his credit has recognised the need for younger and quicker defenders to lead the backline. Silva has put his way of playing into place and without isolating the more experienced players. Both of these older professionals and former England internationals would be highly regarded around the club and if not assisting bringing the youth through could in some capacity keep the values and traditions of the football club alive.
