As much fun as I think it would be to see a Women’s Club World Championship, I don’t think it’s feasible the way things stand now. There’s already multiple major international tournaments (World Cup, Olympics, Euros, CONCACAF, Copa América, etc.), plus UWCL and hopefully a women’s Europa League eventually. There’s almost too much going on, it’s one of the reasons I hate the idea of a bi-annual World Cup. Maybe make the Olympics U-23 like it is for the men could free things up a bit and make something like this possible. Like I said, it’d be fun to see, especially if they could arrange at a time where most leagues are in season.
Calling the winners the club world champion is kind of a joke because most of the squads from the European teams are just coming off the Euros and they’ll all be in pre-season mode, while the NWSL teams will be in season at top form.
