Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling has finalised his surprise switch to Roma.
The out of favour centre half has moved further down the United pecking order since the arrival of Harry Maguire and the defender will see out at least one year with the Italian side.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer informed the England international that he would not feature as a regular this season, which left Smalling having the choice of staying for less first team football or moving on. He has had a good rub of the green since arriving at the club but Solskjaer needs to take the team in a new direction.
Smalling has been at the club 9 years after being signed by Sir Alex from Fulham. He hasn’t quite lived up to expectation with the club and a move to Italy could revitalise his career.
