The Central Connecticut women’s soccer team was honored with the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 18th consecutive year it was announced on Thursday. The honor recognizes teams that collected a combined team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2018-19 academic year.
The Blue Devils turned in a cumulative team GPA of 3.41 in 2018-19 and have earned the Team Academic Award each year, dating back to 2002. Under head coach Mick D’Arcy, the team had 16 student-athletes named to the 2018 NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, including Charlotte Maurer who was named the Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. D’Arcy, who is in his 20th season, is the program’s all-time winningest coach and has led the Blue Devils to seven Northeast Conference championships, including 2018 when the team ranked fourth nationally in win percentage with a 16-2-2 record.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 3, at Fairleigh Dickinson. CCSU will be home against St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday, Oct. 5, for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
